Nada Berrada
Youth Development Expert

Dr. Nada Berrada is a youth development leader and climate advocate with over 10 years of experience designing and managing impactful programs across Africa, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and North America. Her work focuses on connecting young people, especially women, with education, employment, and opportunities in the green and blue economies.

At Education Development Center (EDC), she co-led a global initiative to support over 1 million youth in preparing for climate-resilient jobs. As part of that, she led efforts to integrate green skills into Senegal’s national education system, reaching more than 30,000 students annually.

She also developed training programs for Indigenous youth in Indonesia and the Philippines and managed large-scale USAID-funded projects in Uganda and Morocco.

Dr. Berrada has contributed insights on youth, climate, and workforce development at forums hosted by the UNFCC (COP28 & COP29), the African Union, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
Her research includes co-authoring an OECD report on youth political and civic inclusion in the MENA region, as well as publishing academic work and teaching for 5 years at Virginia Tech, where she earned her Ph.D. in Political Science and Sociology.

She serves on advisory boards for global youth employment initiatives, including MakingCents International and Education for Employment, and represented Morocco as a United Nations Youth Delegate.

Dr. Berrada has been recognized with several honors, including the Virginia Tech Distinguished Alumni Award and African Union’s Youth & Climate Champion. She brings a strong combination of field experience, policy expertise, and strategic leadership to her work advancing youth opportunity and climate resilience. (Morocco, Middle East and North Africa)
