Peter Kwamena Abbam was a high-ranking diplomat and ambassador. After attending Mfantsipim boarding school in Cape Coast, Ghana, Abbam went on to read Political Economy at St John’s College, Oxford.

Peter Kwamena Abbam left behind a legacy of truthfulness, honesty and service without expectation. Through diplomacy, he gave newly independent Ghana a voice in circles they had previously been excluded. The Peter Abbam Prize will thus seek out and reward those who use diplomatic approaches and methods to help construct a better world as H.E. Peter Abbam did.
